Questions from A Worker Who Reads

Versions: #1
Who built Thebes of the seven gates?
In the books you will find the name of kings.
Did the kings haul up the lumps of rock?
And Babylon, many times demolished.
Who raised it up so many times? In what houses
Of gold-glittering Lima did the builders live?
Where, the evening
that the Wall of China was finished
Did the masons go?
Great Rome is full of triumphal arches.
Who erected them?
Over whom Did the Caesars triumph?
Had Byzantium, much praised in song,
Only palaces for its inhabitants?
Even in fabled Atlantis
The night the ocean engulfed it
The drowning still bawled for their slaves.

The young Alexander conquered India.
Was he alone?
Caesar beat the Gauls.
Did he not have even a cook with him?
Philip of Spain wept when his armada
Went down. Was he the only one to weep?
Frederick the Second won the Seven Years' War.
Who else won it?

Every page a victory.
Who cooked the feast for the victors?

Every ten years a great man.
Who paid the bill?

So many reports.
So many questions.

You are real

When you undress,
you are real.
Every uncertainty
is sincere.

Stay right there, like that,
so I can watch you.
Let me touch
your body, because
when I touch you,
you are real.
You are sincere.

I can understand you now
by your gaze.
You want to give me
your body, because
you are real,
you are real.

Like you

Woah!
Hu-ah
Hu-ah
Hu

Nobody knows how to
love me like you do
like you
like you
Nobody knows how to
love me like you do
like you
like you

Where were you my entire life?
I used to count the days, I called unrest my home
you are next to me now, I question if it's real
No, I didn't know I could love endlessly
We are driving through the city, daydreaming again
You brought a new hope, yeah
When you said 'I love you', I was scared no more
Even the newspapers are writing about us

Baby
Call me when you need to
You know I'll be there in a minute
I don't know what awaits us
What the years have in store
You and me until the end, life as if in a movie
Had faith in me, I'll accomplish everything with you
Together until the end, cruising to the finishline
Long cold nights no longer worry me
You are next to me, your hands keep me warm

Nobody knows how to
love me like you do
like you
like you
Nobody knows how to
love me like you do
like you
like you

Thoughts are still bringing me back to that summer when I gave you my whole self
You held me next to you like we were alone in the whole world
Happiness took me over, everything was full of colors
And until now only the shore separated us
And I'm not writing this song to be a hit
I just wanted to tell you how much you mean to me

Baby
Call me when you need to
You know I'll be there in a minute
I don't know what awaits us
What the years have in store
You and me until the end, life as if in a movie
Had faith in me, I'll accomplish everything with you
Together until the end, cruising to the finishline
Long cold nights no longer worry me
You are next to me, your hands keep me warm

Nobody knows how to
love me like you do
like you
like you
Nobody knows how to
love me like you do
like you
like you

Hu-ah
Hu-ah
Hu
Nobody knows how to
Hu-ah
Hu-ah
Hu

Ve-ki

Which side of the bed do you sleep on?
But you never wear your pajamas, do you?
You have your flaws too!
Tonight, you won’t sleep!

Then the dawn, but who would have thought?
Your leg is too long!
And tell me what flaws you have!
Tonight, you won’t sleep!

The Bird

“Oh, tell me, mother dear,
What stirs within my breast,
That flutters playfully,
And never gives me rest.

“It plays there and it sings
Or leaps into the air.
I feel within my heart
A bird imprisoned there.”

“Go up into the loft
And bring the cage you find.
Your little bird we’ll catch
And keep him there confined.

“Then to the window-sill
The little bird we’ll bring.
At supper-time to us,
At breakfast, he will sing.”
