Welcome Back

Where's the self respect? – it left with the VG-knight1
Took away self reflection, stole the morality, killed the rest
Reactionaries chant: 'Watch out for the guest!
Romani people are spreading fast like the plague!'2

Why do you wanna send ethnic groups out on busses?3
It dampens diversity, doesn't it?4
Take the bus yourself if you wanna play God!
Before you go apeshit on yourselves, Nazi spawn!5

Give up the snobbery!
Look how poor he is - Lock him up!
Give up all that hatred!
A little bit of utopia must be allowed to fucking expect6
Give up the snobbery!
Look how poor he is - Lock him up!
Give up all that hatred!

Are you ready for it? Are you ready for it?
Years since diversity, one year since pitch blackness
I thought we were gonna grow on it? The cliché lives on
Everything should've gotten good, suffering should've given up
For God's sake, demand it!

The fact that this is happening one year after terror7
More open-mindedness became a bus trip to Romania
You were supposed to end the constant bigotry
Welcome back, old chap8
Everything's so easy here

Give up the snobbery!
Look how poor he is - Lock him up!
Give up all that hatred!
A little bit of utopia must be allowed to fucking expect

  • 1. VG is a Norwegian newspaper. This could be a reference to this man who wrote an opinion piece to a newspaper saying Romani people should get chased out of Norway
  • 2. This song is about the hatred and discrimination towards Romani people. Right-wing politicians were worried about the increased number of Romani immigrants from Romania and Bulgaria in the early 2010s
  • 3. Right-wing parties suggested sending all the new Romani immigrants back to Romania and Bulgaria via bus, which spiked a lot of controversy
  • 4. following the 2011 right-wing terrorist attack, politicians focused a lot on diversity and anti-racism
  • 5. 'nasse' is a nickname for Nazis, and 'yngel' means 'offspring' or 'spawn'. Romani people were one of the groups targeted by Nazis during WW2, so trying to deport Romani people is similar to what Nazis did
  • 6. Romani people wanted to come to Norway for a better life
  • 7. Norway experienced a horrific terrorist attack committed by a white supremacist in 2011. After the attack, right-wing parties promised to fight racism and to ensure this never happened again.
  • 8. Right-wing parties refrained from talking about race and immigrants immediately following the terrorist attack, but just one year later, they returned to their anti-immigration talking points

Far Away From Here

This is the room, the sacred nest
Of that girl so richly dressed,
Tranquil and ready for her guest.

With one hand she fans her nipples
Elbow on the couch at rest
Listening to the ponds and ripples.

This room is Dorothy's. The play
Of wind and water, far away,
With fainting song and rhythmic sobs,
Through her reverie hums and throbs.

From head to toe with greatest care
Her skin is polished, to adorn her
With benjamin and oils as rare...
Some flowers are swooning in a corner.

Bongo bongo bongo

One day a missionary went down there to the Equator
He wanted to civilize the blacks who lived in that region
He tried to convince them that life was better here
But a black man, with nonchalance, replied to him, alas, like this:

'Oh... bongo, bongo, bongo
I’m fine here in the Congo
I won’t move, no, no!
(No, no, no, no)
Bingo, bango, bengo
I’m sorry, but I won’t come
I’ll stay here
I don’t want tight shoes
Soap bars, trains, and taxis
But with this alarm clock around my neck
I’m fine here, here, here'

Patiently, the missionary continued to speak to him
About futurist painting, swing music, and bridges on the Po
While he was describing the great fashion of Paris
That black man, annoyed, replied again like this:

'Oh... bongo, bongo, bongo
I’m fine here in the Congo
I won’t move, no, no!
(No, no, no, no)
Bingo, bango, bengo
I’m sorry, but I won’t come
I’ll stay here
I don’t want motorcycle rides
Bounced checks, nor vermouth gin
But with these rings in my nose
I’m fine here... and I won’t move!
What do I find down there with you?
Atomic bombs and nothing more!
Christian Dior with the models
Strikers with their signs
And that guy who’s coming
You won’t charm me... I’m staying here!'

Jealousy

Love means jealousy
For those who fall in love with you
Perhaps you don’t realize what you do to me
What you do to my heart, to my life
If love means jealousy
Who will ever love you more than me?
I tremble at the thought that one day
A love taught you
To kiss like this

If love means jealousy
Who will ever love you more than me?
I tremble at the thought that one day
A love taught you
To kiss like this
