A Lecture on Water

This liquid is called water.
When pure
it is odorless, tasteless and colorless.
Reduced to steam,
under tension and high temperature,
it moves the pistons of engines, that's why
we call them steam engines.
It is a good dissolvent.
Although with some exceptions, but generally,
it dissolves all efficiently, acids, bases and salts.
It freezes at zero centigrade
and boils at 100, under normal pressure.
It was in this liquid that one hot summer night,
under a viscous, white camelia moonlight,
appeared the floating Ophelia's corpse
with a lily in one hand
