I took the commandments in a new directionI accepted the touch in silence
from the altar, the earth's sacrifice
is allowed embark alone
to a new age
an eternal man of stars
I'm a scarred-over wound, I'm a memory
I searched for revelers in the night with bleary eyes
I read 'stay here' on their lips,
I don't think I saw anyone else
in this room,
someone listened to you, man of stars
the mind yearns for open spaces
to tread the edge of the field
til the flood that rushes in
come closer kindly, carefully,
pulse heavy through thin skin
Monday and a new job,
it snowed all night
and in secret, early
stole away
