O Mustafa

Chorus:
Even if they can kill you,
They won't be able to kill your books!
Ya Mustafa, early star of the long night!

is dreading silently - what a dark day!
They've taken our Mustafa to a Zindan1.
Digging the Mazar2, wiping his freezing forehead,
What will happen with our beloved !?

Chorus.

Once again, he gazed upon his white city,
With his clear eye, embracing all the Minarets3.
The Kafirs4 have shot to the chest,
The ruddy Sabah5 of Sarajevo had silenced.

Chorus.

The night had passed, the foes have failed,
They perished - to smaller than when they were born.
Everybody is asking, where is the Mazar of Mustafa,
An erudite Shahid6 is watching over Sarajevo.

Chorus.
