A Welcome to the beautiful summer

A Welcome to the beautiful summer,
a welcome to this wonderful time.
Though I heard the little birds' tunes,
behold, how marvellously field and meadow lay before us.
Now, winter must make way for summer's victor,
behold, joy is filling the streets,
which this wonderful May has given to us.

Noone, through his sense of virtue, shall resent me,
if I, nevertheless, sing for my Lady*.
I will feel compelled to do so by my dearest,
and my love's rose-coloured lips.
I suffer pain from my beloved.
Would this pure and virtuous one comfort me,
then all my suffering would come to an end.

Should I not receive this wonderful comfort,
all of my joy would perish.
Would she mercilessly let me die?
Alas, how this would suit her sweet crimson mouth.
I suffered hardship from my dearest.
Would this pure and virtuous one comfort me,
she, who once gave me her lovely salutation.
