Shack

I live in a shack
There, in the morro da alegria 1
And when it rains, it changes its place
It's all made from wood and zinc
There's only clarity in moonlit nights
There's a tunnel in which I make tanks and latches
Water comes when São Pedro decides to send it
But anyways, I'm very happy and I'll go singing
Because I live in the slum I found
An open sky to live.
Because for me
My shack is a beauty
If sadness comes
I'll sing a samba and it'll go away
My shack doesn't know
What's sadness
There isn't a bed, nor a table
But there's leftover peace.
I had a bungalow when I lived in the city,
Had stuff, but a lot of stuff
With the utmost ease
But I never was happy,
Because I was missing love
Now I have it in my shack
All of the happiness
That was missing in the bungalow

In joy
If I haven't written to you in a long time
It was because time itself didn't let me
Today I write to you about what's new
 
When I arrived it was morning
It was cold and I was empty inside
On my hands I had the same hope
On my chest my illusion
Without knowing where to go
 
It's that I miss you
 
The cavendish banana is tiny
The tangerine is a mandarin
I miss the moonlight
Everything else is the same
Hugs and that's it
in carnival I'll arrive there
 

Samba and you

I finally understood that I can't act
against my feelings
Because I understood that no-one can change
his way of being.
In fact I was born like samba, in the body and blood
And being so, without samba I can't live.
If you'd understand you are part of the sambas I do.
Because I found my inspiration by you.
How to have only you, holding samba in our arms?
How can I only live for samba if I have you?
 
If you'd understand that our problem can easily
be solved.
It's sure I'd be happy and my samba would smile
I 'll have a promotion so that you 'd be able to
parade with me.
And I'd do a storyline samba, so that you'd sing.
