Yesterday

Yesterday - it’s this wilted hat
that I’ve worn so long.
Yesterday - it’s a well-worn dress
that’s gone out of fashion.
Yesterday - it was the beautiful convent
so empty now
and the pink melancholy
of young girls’ lessons.
Yesterday, it is my heart wrongly given
year by year!
Yesterday is no more - tonight - than a shadow
