Less cute

It was the day summer came,
This day, we fold-up all those things we failed to do
Like someone throws away his used furnitures.
We dropped off our love on the sidewalk
And we laughed without a shout
As if we wanted to hide the sound of our tears.
We said to each other in a shy way
'Let's be friend, anyway', as if it was cute.

Yet
It's less cute than a beginning, than a bunch of roses, than a poem someone reads,
It's less cute than a love note we give without even thinking of getting something back,
It's less cute than a beginning, than a bunch of roses, than a poem someone reads,
It's less cute than a love note we give without even thinking of getting something back.

It was this day, when we got out of our un-finished dream
As if we were afraid of its ending.
It was this day and, at the bottom of my heart, I wished our 'fare thee well' would mean 'see you tomorrow'.
We promised each other in a stupid way
We'd call each other to say good night
And that despite of the lonely mornings
And the cold waking up, we'd regret nothing.
