King Solomon's sailors
Yes, they were unparalleled fierce companySailors were these! One by one
Tzor and Kush knew their nature, Ashdod and India, too,
Sea of Eilot ,sea of Kaftor and Sea of Tarshish.
Both paddle and glass they knew how to hold
Also using dagger when needed
They wore big earring in the earlobe
And a red bonnet on their heads.
Facing the visible horizon distance
This is how they would sing together loudly:
Etzion Gaver, Etzion Gaver
Etzion Gaver sea of Eilot
With sea boats it would be passed
And with large ships
But large as water is a man's heart
Who would pass it without a paddle?
Only a girl from Etzion Gaver,
Etzion Gaver sea of Eilot.
This they were singing afterwards with sad voice,
It's a long way to Tarshish
Then to the sound of command in team spirit
Jumped as one to work in an instant
Until the order of attack was heard... then in a rush
Broke through enemy lines
While the ship almost gone wrecked
In their calling: Long live Solomon, long live the Navy
And while passing in like tempest and whirlwind
This is how their voice sounded altogether :
Etzion Gaver, Etzion Gaver ...
And on return by ship to cross seas again
Carrying treasures of lands and islands,
Corals, gold and perfumes within,
Ivory, monkeys and parrots,
Paddling inscensed with mor and wonder
Scarred from storms and battle fury
Knowing: King Solomon's sailors
Are precious than corals and gold.
Then wind and blue bay would sing,
All in all altogether sing aloud
Etzion Gaver, Etzion Gaver ...
