and her dress noboby has unfastened yet.
Then she pulled back the unruly lock
her lappet had moved down a bit.
She thought: 'this is wrong, very wrong! And what a rain!'
I'll be done for like your average old bluestocking1!
Then, before going out, to enjoy a whiff
of warm air, she held out her hands in front of the fire.
And off she scampers under her umbrella2
in the rain. Only her bootie and her rump
bulging under her raincoat show.
She's nearly there. Good Lord! Sixth floor is so high!
The key is in the lock. She comes in and goes 'Phew!'
then wets his nose3 saying 'I love you'.
- 1. that's just an educated guess. 'fée' most likely had a more specific slangy meaning in the 19th century, but I couldn't pinpoint it
- 2. this disused term for 'umbrella' means 'just in case'
- 3. I suppose the raindrops on her face wet the guy's nose as she kisses him. I couldn't find any slangy use of the expression
