On the lake's shore

Versions: #1
O beauty who clanged her bangles
while I cast my net from the lake's shore
Add me to the list when you
cast lots for your marriage

(chorus)

I feel pain like you boiled oil
in the pan of my heart1 with your eyes
Now that my soul knows it, I am today
a spinning top with a broken string

Come to me, dear myna

Come to me, dear myna1, give me sweetness
In your beloved garden, who are you searching for, who?
The Nishagandhi2 flower has bloomed in the land of the moonlight
Have you already forgotten your old playmate?

The waves of the ocean and the desires of the heart3
Will never abate, my dear, will never abate.

To Your Holy Ashram, Sanyasini

To your holy ashram1, sanyasini2,
To your holy ashram, sanyasini,
I came with evening flowers.
At the front door which nobody opened,
I stood like a stranger.

In your stream of silent tears moistened by sadness,
my dreams dissolved, sputtering,
my desires died.
Falling into the embers of your mind's eye,
these flowers of mine have burnt.
As the night to the day,
I bid you goodbye.

In the lonely road of your memories,
you will see me one day.
Someday you will search for my footprints
and still my soul will whisper to you,
'I have loved you'.
As the night to the day,
I bid you goodbye.

In a village in Judea

In a village in Judea,
on a cool night of one December,
shepherds who were spending the night,
heard a divine sound and were glad!

In the sky streaked with color,
in the night where silvery clouds flowed,
that day, together with a star princess,
the crescent moon sang: Gloria!

Gazing at the star,
walked the shepherds (2)
Seeing the radiance before them,
they came to Bethlehem (2)
The golden figure of the king of kings (2)
they saw in the cattle barn.

The three kings,
to see and bow before
the son of David,
they came with gifts. (2)
In the presence of the god of gods (2)
did they place the gifts and bow.
