Near my house there was
An apple tree and white lilac
Under the flowers of the dew
And an old bench for the kids.
My hair was flying in the wind
And grandpa sang cheerfully,
The birds came from the fields
With a sad and hurtful word.
 
Farewell flowers near the old bench,
Farewell you two.
Under the blue sky the lovers
Were both of us.
My only friend doesn’t know
That he will go away.
Near the old bench, the white birds
Are waiting for him, singing.
 
Grandpa, don’t go away,
I want to grow up with you.
You warm the house,
And on my cheeks are shivers.
Take me in the woods
By the water, drowned in blue
The birds dressed in white
Will fly away, burning my eyes.
