A bamboo hut stands in far-off Vietnam.There, a girl embroiders a banner as a gift to Stalin.
The fingers move quickly, and you want to smile.
And on the banner, Stalin looks a little like a Vietnamese.
She had put so much patience into her work, so much patience
Into her work not for nothing:
Stalin will receive her gift for his birthday!

But one foggy morning, by the wrathful summons of a tom-tom drum
With weapons, the people of Vietnam rose up against the planters.
And in the heart of the uprising, the banner rose stubbornly:
It was a present to Stalin from a Vietnam girl!
She gave her precious gift to the people,
Who defended peace and their freedom in the struggle!
