Ruskis are Nicking
Once in the morning, I peeked into my neighbours garden,There a typical soldier Alyosha was nicking 1 ripe grapes.
In shock, I uttered 'What are you doing, 'Ruski brother'?'
And he answered: 'I need it! Otherwise, 'grandpas' 2
will put me on 'the rota'!' 3
---Chorus---
Ruskis are nicking! Ruski nicking everything, nonstop!
They are nicking, and blaming others!
Ruskis are nicking, and if they stop, then they will get sent to 'rota'!
Starshy praporshchik 4 on duty had managed to nick a truck of weapons,
He shared the profits with the Political Commissar 5 as he 'covered' for him 6
The Political Commissar has got himself a car now,
He was so pleased that he is not a thief,
That he was drink driving and crashed into a fence.
--- Chorus ---
General, is a mighty lad, he only trades the good stuff -
He sold a rocket to the enemies and is now building a summerhouse in Sochi!
That rocket hit a Russian plane,
And the people are told to 'blame Islam!'
--- Chorus ----
- 1. here I used nicking as a slang term for stealing, the Russian equivalent however is much more vulgar referring to female genitalia within the term

- 3. Rota in the Soviet Army system is a reference to a typical military duty, (typically excessive cleaning or guarding), usually used as a form of punishment
- 4. military rank unique to Soviet military, in NATO countries this is something equivalent to Master Sergeant
- 5. unique to the Soviet army role
- 6. covered here is a slang term for various methods used to legitimise theft formally (report as missing, damaged etc) but could also mean that he had written off the theft using his rank
