Ordinary woman

[Verse 1]
You can win a million, or win a car,
you can be good at golf or do somersault,
you can be cool, or be lucky at cards,
having a big house, or to party everyday,
but I know I won the first prize... An ordinary woman.

[Verse 2]
You can be a businessman and man know-it-all,
you can make a tunnel* and don't be thrown in jail,
you can be the boss and drive a Porsche,
but having such a woman as you do, it seems worse to me
and that's why I know I won first prize... An ordinary woman.

[Ref:]
She's as ordinary as a summer meadow and always looks at me kindly,
she doesn't make waves if I do,
she's soothing like a summer breeze and has a lot positive traits
so I'm humming every morning:

[Verse 1:]

And that's why I know I won first prize... An ordinary woman.

The Gambler

Today I was lazy even to read, I flipped through a few pages
and then my eyelids dropped - at that moment I was already asleep.
Suddenly the dream came, straight from this book,
that I met a gambler and he told me:

A man who can play well, have to read people's faces, boy,
to know what's up and what they want to hide in their eyes,
I know you're making mistakes, you wanna win more than you can lose,
who lost must pay up, so let me advise you.

Just dust and mud on shoes, whoever wrote this novel
had no idea I will get tired from it.
I would switch sides with you at once, boy,
if you want to, for a while, be the dreaded gambler and keep your wandering boots on.

CHORUS: Life is a won game if you raise the bets,
have faith and don't give up, just keep playing.
Good luck has its own price, which you hold in your palms
If you let go for a while, then: how much would you be worth?

Every gambler has a manual how to live a hundred years,
he knows what to throw away and what is worth to take.
But every palm is unlucky and every palm is fortunate,
only one thing no longer belongs to you - your roof above your head.

Suddenly I woke up, I lifted my head from the book,
I look at the picture how much we look alike.
And on a dark night in the distance, someone says 'thanks'
and I didn't know back then: was it him or me?

Chorus x4:

When the Angels Call

When the angels call me to their side,
I won’t want travelling musicians at my funeral,
I’d prefer sad guitar blues
Over a funeral march.

I beg my bereaved in advance,
Leave your formal black garments at home,
Sit by me in your jeans
So I can sing with you.

I do fear the unknown journey,
Please understand—this will be my first time dying,
I’m leaving behind my desire and love in this world,
My soul will be devoid of blood.

When you leave the cemetery for someplace to drink,
Have a glass in my stead,
And to my wife, I’d like to say,
„Stay with me for a while afterwards.“

I gaze into the streets,
Tears steal into my eyes,
My life ends in the stars, the people below trudge on.
I loved my wild life,
My heart wasn’t made of stone

Someone will remember here and there.
When the angels call me to their side,
I won’t want travelling musicians at my funeral,
I’d prefer sad guitar blues

Over a funeral march.
I beg my bereaved in advance,
Leave your formal black garments at home,
Sit by me in your jeans

So I can sing with you.
When the angels call me to their side…
