Arne

Here is my city and my place and my garden
I'm 35, my name is Arne
And I will die in an hour
I just don't know it yet

Here is my house and my beautiful wife
We met young and I promised her my life
But 10 years is all she will get
She just doesn't know it yet

For what it's worth
I still think I am fortunate
And the worst is
I have never
Never been so happy
So happy as I am now

Here are my children and their friends
Like us, they don't know just how it will end
In under an hour they will scarcely understand
They just don't know it yet

There you see me lie in my chair with a big smile
I love the view here from my terrace
And soon it will be too late to say what I'm thinking about
I just don't know it yet

For what it's worth
I still think I am fortunate
And the worst is
I have never
Never been so happy
So happy as I am now

Not far away, someone will be clearing space for their house
And they will use a lot of dynamite
And a stone will slip through their safety net
They just don't know it yet

And that stone will fly through the air
Like a projectile towards my chair and my pillow
And my eyes will be closed when I lose my head
But of course
I don't know it yet

For what it's worth
I still think I am fortunate
And the worst is
I have never
Never been so happy
So happy as I am now
So happy
So happy as I am now
I just don't know it yet

Morbid illusions

I sit in a café
And peek out the window
A man walks by with a cane and a dog
But I only see him for a short moment
Because in the next second in my mind's eye
He becomes a victim of rush traffic
He tumbles to the ground and breaks his neck
There was blood everywhere when he fell

I believe I think for millions
I believe I think about everything
I believe I think about the reactions
That my doctor has called
Morbid illusions
Morbid illusions

A hunter rushes past
With bombs and grenades
And right across the street is a man with an axe
Swinging it around wildly as he talks
Another tries to parallel park
But is subjected to the evening's
First chainsaw dismemberment
A face that sees me and glistens with fat
Suddenly turns white - a skeleton

I believe I think for millions
I believe I think about everything
I believe I think about the reactions
That my doctor has called
Morbid illusions
Morbid illusions

Then I pack up after another day
Full of happiness and delight
And outside everything is as it was before
There's no blood and no one is dying
I take the tram home at ten o'clock
To reality from fantasy
An empty connection
And an eternal illusion

I believe I think for millions
I believe I think about everything
I believe I think about the reactions
That my doctor has called
Morbid illusions
Morbid illusions
