Viking

Had you lived in another time
You could have been a viking
Come home with loot and gold
Been a proper rich man
Women would flock around you
Like bees around honey
You could've picked out a lovely blonde
And made her your queen

Yeah, were it not for the bloody state
You could have done what you wanted
And if someone stood in your way
It would end badly for them
For with sword and axe and shield and spear
You would have cleaned house
Folks would shake in fear of your name
And bow humbly before you

Had you lived in another time
You could have been king of the hill
Stayed away from man and beast
Avoided the Black Death
And when all lay dead
And the land lay empty
You could've bought cheap land
You could've raised up a statue
Of yourself at the market square
Honoured you father and mother

Free life

I live as if I were rich
Even though I have no money
Drive around the city and eat caviar
Live as it suits me
And take what I can get
Don't need a peg
To hang my life on
I have one room and a kitchen
That's more than enough for me
There I'm the king, yes, there I decide
King Michael the first, my word is law
I say hello, I say don't lie there and sleep

I see myself
As a young aristocrat
Since I, by my nature
Am incredibly lazy
Being out in society
Isn't for me
After five minutes I get tired of it

All the status seekers with their fake success
Their thoughts and opinions
They disgust me
They have nothing to tell me
They have nothing to give me

So I live as I do instead
Even though I have no money
Drive around the city and eat caviar
Live as it suits me
And take what I can get
Don't need a peg
To hang my life on

I have one room and a kitchen
That's more than enough for me
There I'm the king, yes, there I decide
King Michael the first, my word is law

I'm working on a masterpiece
I'm writing it with blood
But if it doesn't catch on now
Then it doesn't matter
'Cause when I'm gone
They'll realize who I was
And hold beautiful memorial speeches
By my grave

Along the street

I walk along the street, breathing in exhaust
That's my kind of comfort
All my friends drive around in cars
They spend their money on gasoline
That's certainly OK
But it's not for me
I'd rather walk along the street

I walk along the street, watching things happen
And I want nothing more
All my friends go on walks
They stare at trees and rocks out in God's nature
That's certainly OK
But it's not for me
I'd rather walk along the street
