My darling is fresh faced, his blue eyes are sparkly.
His hair in curled ringlets hung sweet to the sight.
So mount the old pony, go look for my darling,
bring back to his mother her only delight.
He's always out roaming through the long summer days,
he's always out roaming away from the farm,
Through hedges and ditches and valleys and hillsides.
I hope that my darling didn't come to harm.
Well, I've searched in the meadow and in the far acre,
through stockyards and animal sheds, but found nothing.
