Phone Lament
Two years have passed since I had a phoneBut it rarely rings these days
To my sorrow, that's why my phone serves as a clock
After being in the underground
I check if someone has called me on the ground
But my phone says no one has
When the phone's ringing in the train
I try to answer it, thinking someone has called me
'Hello?'
No one has
I hate the guy who's talking next to me
I hate the woman who's laughing in front of me
I was pointless to write my phone number on my card
I wish it's out of coverage area
Even though my phone signal shines
I'm wondering if I want to give up call waiting
I have three spare batteries
My answering machine reproduces my cheerful voice
I got to know a woman during a party for singles
She told me her phone number
When I try to call her
'The number you have dialed is no longer in service'
When my phone's ringing among the crowd
I try to answer it, keeping my joy back
'Hello?'
I'm cut off
I was pointless to use shielding devices
I was pointless to buy a headset
Even though my phone displays all three bars
I shouldn't have had a phone
When every phone but mine is ringing all over the street
I try to call someone, wanting to get over my disappointment
'Hello?'
I'm cut off
I should have had a pager instead
PHS1 was free to get
Even though my phone displays all three bars
I shouldn't have bought a phone
I hate the guy who's talking next to me
I hate Edison for inventing the phone
I shouldn't have had a phone
I'm wondering if I want to go home to the country
Where it's out of coverage area
