Without vows,
life would be dreary
like deepest gloom of rainy nights.
So don’t begrudge me them, my dearie,
don’t be afraid to tell me lies.
Life often treats us so unkindly,
There’s so much bustle nowadays...
Don’t fear the words,
most honeyed, idle,
short-lived like flower bouquets.
They’re bringing joy to every person,
without them the world is doomed...
And don’t they serve a higher purpose
Within brief span when they’re in bloom?
