Two stars

Time flies on while towing me along behind
and there are few signs of where it is leading me.
But I just hope it thinks a little warmly of me
and eventually will lead me back to you.
 
I once gave you a gold chain to put around your neck,
so you’d never forget me during the day.
I looked at myself for a moment in your dark eyes,
and I was hoping I could just be there all the time.
 
There are many things that worry, although it is not the waiting
Because I can see in the dust how long it's been.
And I’m writing something I care about there with my finger.
For my night is dark and lonely, and my daytime is on fire.
 
Yes, and your face is painted. How I always clearly remember it,
your eyebrows and pink lips, smile so brightly.
Of course I know that what is free is always best,
But then I have to pay dearly for the worst.
 
I miss you at daybreak when you are not by my side
and I miss you during the day when the sun smiles down at me.
And I miss you in the evening when night falls.
But I miss you the most at night when these images retire.
 
Then I look up and see that we are together two
stars in the blue firmament that move closer and closer.
You're in my mind when my eyes are open, every single moment.
But now when I close them again, I will find you anew.
