We took the ferry to Travemünde
Our trip began like so
Four ordinary swedish tourists
In an old broken-down Renault
 
We were going different places
And we barely knew eachother
But to save gas and money
Our company could work
 
We twisted and turned on our map
To find a practical way
To Nice through Hamburg and Brussels
And preferably over Genève
 
We were all pretty well-traveled
And came up with lots of ideas
On new and exciting places
Where one could stay for a day

Far out in Germany's moors
We got stopped by a transport
A convoy of Nato-rockets
On its way to an unknown place
 
It was death we saw there it slowly
Slid out of a steel-gray parade
Every fighting-tip's got a number
That stands for a certain city
 
'I know a guy in Greece'
Said Lena 'He's in a bar
Athen's the name of the city he lives in
Wonder what number it's got'
 
In Provence the moutains are red,
And the citrus flower white
Number C 87 is the robot
That waits for arrival there
 
'It was here that it all started' said Peter
That'd been a quiet long while
From Europe came Cook and Columbus
And it was here that the earth turned round

My glance was depressed

Get home one day
In a future when everything's changed
Their part of earth still exists
 
But with the continent we live in
There's a tregedy that repeats
Where the authors are called strategists
And those who die in the end are we'
