The Fool’s Path
I read the inscription on the rock,I stood there for a long time, not knowing where I should go.
“Go to the right - find the riches,
Go to the left - find a happy marriage.
Go straight ahead - ...”
But I couldn’t make out the words at all.
I chose this way.
And it was the Fool’s Path.
The goals are clear, the means are obvious...
Any destiny has roots in one’s childhood.
Fairytales about treasures, dreams of a princess -
That’s how they teach us about money and sex.
The world is talking to you, but you don’t understand it’s language.
How could I have known that I walk down the Fool’s Path.
Someone fell down, someone rose up,
Someone was searching - and himself got lost.
The one who became rich, wishes to fall in love,
The one who found love, tries to get rich.
In the end, my friend, you get only what you’ve been looking for.
But I look around and keep walking down the Fool’s Path.
Strange people are all around me,
They want to know what has been and what will be.
I know what it is now. There are evenings and mornings.
But they expect something and call me a sage.
There is nothing here that I would know for sure.
Don’t follow me.
