The Ballad of Enticement
Come hither, come, come and dance.Let yourself be enticed by our song,
Come, dance and lie with us,
Here in the warm darkness1 of the night.
Come hither, come, come and dance,
Come and lie in our arms,
Come, sing and dance with us,
We will not hurt2 you.
One night when I rode,
My way led to the elver thicket,
There, by a tree my horse
Stopped and would not move on,
On the way, someone danced in the moonlight,
Maidens in a circle, sweet voices sang to me.
Come hither, come, come and dance,
Come and lie in our arms,
Come, sing and dance with us,
We will not hurt you.
I got off my horse and went to meet them,
But they moved further away,
They led me deep into the forest,
Until I had gotten lost,
All the while they sang to me.
Come hither, come, come and dance,
Come and lie in our arms,
Come, sing and dance with us,
We will not hurt you.
The shrubbery3 became so dense
Over his head ktowered the oak,
I was still following the bunch,
Hawthorns cut my skin,
Tore my hair and my clothes,
While the maidens around me giggled.
Come hither, come, come and dance,
Come and lie in our arms,
Come, sing and dance with us,
We will not hurt you.
Inside the realm of the forest,
They circled around me,
With dance and play, I was captivated,
From here I'll never come.
In the muggy summer nights,
When the country sleeps safely,
To me the maidens of the forest sing sweetly.
Come hither, come, come and dance,
Come and lie in our arms,
Come, sing and dance with us,
We will not hurt you.

The Hummock On Red-Hot Poles
In rain I rode a lonely ride,On the harvest nights' desolate heath,
The wind screamed on the wild widths,
And took me out to foreign land.
Hey! Hey!
A light in the distance promised shelter,
And beds of sweet hay,
Hey! Hey!
But odd was the sight that met my eyes
Of joy and delight.
A hummock on red-hot poles,
A hall made of shining gold,
The nation, who let themselves split,
Dances and drinks in the house of soil.
A woman from the mountain brought a chalice,
With turse1mead, thick as a trolls blood,
Dumb as stone, I grabbed hold of the bowl,
And finished it in one drag.
Hey! Hey!
As peg in a brook I was filled,
By joy and by drunkenness,
Hey! Hey!
While the sound of the flute lured me,
In the hummock on that harvest night.
A hummock on red-hot poles,
A hall made of shining gold,
The nation, who let themselves split,
Dance and drink in the house of soil.
Wild maidens dressed in green robes,
With beautiful eyes and willing genitals,
Men drank with desire out of the mead,
The event didn't stop before dawn
I resumed the journey from yesterday,
But known paths could hardly be recognised,
I was only recognised by the graybeard of the farm,
'But there you are, that is our boy?'2'
A hummock on red-hot poles,
A hall made of shining gold,
The nation, who let themselves split,
Dance and drink in the house of soil.

The Feast
Now the feast is about to begin,The beer flows from our barrel,
Women pour beer in horns,
The feast won't end until tomorrow.
Over the fire the meat is roasted,
We take women to the hay,
Men, who fights win women,
To keep them warm at wintertime.
Below the wide crown of the beech we sit,
Hey! Hey!
We drink a lot, chilled beer in horn,
The feast won't end until tomorrow.
Now the feast is about to begin,
The beer flows from our barrel,
Women pour beer in horns,
The feast won't end until tomorrow.
The dance swings merrily around, around us
Hey! Hey!
The maidens smile so sweet at us men,
Hey! Hey!
Now the feast is about to begin,
The beer flows from our barrel,
Women pour beer in horns,
The feast won't end until tomorrow.
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!
The women show us their bosom,
Hey! Hey!
Now it's time to show, what we can do,
Hey! Hey!
Now the feast is about to begin,
The beer flows from our barrel,
Women pour beer in horns,
The feast won't end until tomorrow.
Around the fire we ate the meat
We took women to the hay,
Men, who fights got women,
To keep them warm at wintertime.
