Earphons and a Chorus of Cicadas

I need a holiday
But it's not like I wish for everyday to be a holiday
Cause I wouldn't be able to bear the pain
of knowing it's not true freedom

Not bad enough to throw away, but not good enough to really talk about
Downing the cheap vending machine drinks, today is distinctively summer
I dashed across the burning asphalt, its heat proportional to the blazing sun
A solitary journey in an unknown world - a summer fantasy I've longed for since days past

Streets without a shadow of a person but filled with heat shimmers, from my earphones leaked out a melody
But it was drowned out by the singing cicadas, and sounds of summer clad in wind
The unease of pent up emotions, unable to let out yesterday's thoughts
This consdendation of anxiety and regret, will be washed away by the evening rain in this summer world

I just want to be coloured in a summer dream
Even after erasing all my unnecessary thoughts, this incessant crying is as annoying as ever
'Look I'm alright, there's no problem at all'
I throw up these thoughts of fake bravado and become so empty even my presence becomes permeable

I just want to be coloured in a summer dream
I'm begging you, please, don't wake me up.

The long vanished shade under the trees, the sky that's cried itself dry
Where did it all go? What is this voice I'm still hearing
Wallowing in my tears, in a small corner of summer
I'll pray that I can smile.

As in this moment I just want to be coloured in today
If every time I end up wishing for something, I lose something in return

I'll get rid of the me who continues to wish.
No matter what I may lose tomorrow, I swear to continue moving towards the future
If I'm going to end up forgetting the colour of that summer,
Then as payment along with these tears, I'd like to be able to sing with a smile once again.

I need a holiday
But it's not like I wish for everyday to be a holiday
Cause I wouldn't be able to bear the pain
of knowing it's not true freedom
